Adopt NI was created in 1989 following a change in legislation, to provide support for adults facing the challenges of adoption.  The organisation has since extended its services, to birth parents and adults separated from their family of origin through being in care. 

We provide an accountable, dedicated, openminded, personalised and trusted service to adults impacted by adoption and care experience.

Finance Manager

You will work alongside and support the CEO in all finance and financial governance elements of a project, which delivers on information recovery and family tracing for adults linked to the Mother and Baby Homes, Magdalene Laundries & Workhouses and their pathways and practices in Northern Ireland.

 

This role will Lead on the Finance of the MBMLW project, providing both operational and strategic support for the CEO and the Trustee Board, as well as further developing the accounting policies and procedures effectively to ensure compliance with relevant charity and company regulations.

 

 

Some Key elements of the Role:
 

  • Manage and maintain financial systems, including Xero, to record financial activity accurately and provide reliable reporting for strategic and operational decision-making

  • Develop the annual budget, and subsequent quarterly forecasts, in conjunction with the CEO; monitor performance and ensure effective budget management throughout the year.

  • Oversee financial transactions, budgeting, reporting, monthly payroll, HMRC payments, pension payments and staff expenses.

  • Manage the payroll service, ensuring staff are paid accurately, on time and in line with contractual and legal requirements.

  • Manage the workplace pension scheme and ensure associated payments and records are maintained appropriately.

  • Maintain and update financial policies, procedures and internal controls to manage risk and support good financial governance.
