The Truth Programme
Adopt NI and WAVE Trauma Centre
working together to support your journey
About the Truth Programme
The Truth Programme is a survivor-informed initiative, delivered in partnership by AdoptNI and WAVE Trauma Centre and funded by the Victims and Survivors Service (VSS).
The programme brings together the expertise of both organisations to provide dedicated specialist support and services for individuals and families, impacted by Mother and Baby Institutions, Magdalene Laundries and Workhouses.
Developed in collaboration with victim and survivor groups and others, the programme has been co-designed to ensure services are accessible, compassionate, and responsive to those impacted
The programme delivers a range of support and services across NI and beyond, ensuring that those living elsewhere have access to the support and services they need.
These include dedicated Health and Wellbeing caseworkers, counselling, complementary therapies, information recovery & family tracing, additional needs-based support, assistance with redress applications and a range of other social and welfare supports.
Truth Recovery Support is available to anyone affected by Mother and Baby Institutions, Magdalene Laundries, Workhouses, related institutions or associated historical adoption practices. You can access support regardless of whether you are eligible for, or choose to apply for, redress.
We provide a range of dedicated services to support survivors of Mother and Baby Institutions, Magdalene Laundries, and Workhouses and their pathways and practices (1922-1990), including:
-
Specialist Family Tracing: Delivered by qualified genealogists, this includes voluntary DNA testing, analysis, interpretation, and optional family tracing.
-
Intermediary Support: Assisting individuals and families affected by these institutions and their associated pathways and practices.
-
Advice & Advocacy: Empowering individuals to feel understood and supported throughout their journey and pre-during and post public inquiry.
-
Comprehensive Therapeutic Support: Offering wraparound therapeutic support throughout the client journey.
