ARE YOU ADOPTED; AN ADOPTER; A BIRTH FAMILY MEMBER OR WERE LOOKED AFTER AWAY FROM HOME?

Have you tried to trace your family or origin?  Did you find out late in life you were adopted, and if so were you aware there was support available to you?  Did you know where to start if you did wish to trace your family of origin?  Have you lost a child through either a closed or an open adoption and felt you needed someone impartial to talk to? These are issues we are keen to explore in discussion groups, to get a better idea of what services adults from the adoption and looked after communities are aware of, or what you feel is needed.  If you would like to take part in a group, use the register your interest form below and someone will be in touch when a group is running in your area.

Are you a professional working with adults post adoption or who have been looked after away from home long term?

Do you assist adults in tracing their family of origin?  Do you support adults who have been adopted, who have lost family through adoption or who have been in long term care?  Were you aware of the additional support Adopt NI can provide?  We are keen to explore the need for specific support groups across the region.  We currently run one mixed group in Belfast but have had interest expressed in, for example, a birth mother specific support group.  If you are working with individuals in your locality and have enough you feel would be interested in attending either a mixed or specific group in the area (or indeed a discussion group to explore what might work best for those individuals), let us know using the register your interest form below and someone will be in touch to discuss this.
